Trailblazers & Tastemakers Summit Inspires Collaboration and Innovation Across the Region

On Friday, 26 June 2026, entrepreneurs, tourism professionals, business owners, creatives and innovators from across the Western Cape gathered at Meerhof Wine Estate in Riebeek Kasteel for the Trailblazers & Tastemakers Summit.

Hosted by Swartland Tourism in collaboration with Stellenbosch, Paarl, Wellington and Tulbagh and Tourism, the summit was created to encourage collaboration between neighbouring regions while providing delegates with practical insights, fresh ideas and valuable opportunities to connect with industry leaders and fellow professionals.

Throughout the day, attendees heard from an outstanding line-up of speakers who shared their knowledge, experiences and perspectives on topics ranging from leadership and entrepreneurship to artificial intelligence, branding and business growth.

The day opened with a warm welcome from  Ashley Stone, Swartland Tourism Chairperson, followed by Alderman harold Cleophas, Mayor of Swartland Municipality, who officially welcomed delegates and highlighted the importance of regional collaboration in strengthening tourism and supporting local economies.

Andrea Mullineux | Building a World-Class Brand

Internationally acclaimed winemaker Andrea Mullineux, co-owner of Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines, shared the inspiring story behind one of South Africa’s most celebrated wine brands. Drawing on her own journey, she spoke about the value of authenticity, perseverance and remaining true to a vision while building a globally recognised business. When people asked why (my husband and I) chose Swartland instead of Stellenbosch or even an international established region, the answer was simple. We blevied that the Swartland had a voice that had not yet been fully heard. We started our own winery in a place we thought had the best potential in the world

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the way businesses operate, and this practical session explored how AI can be used to improve productivity, marketing, customer engagement and day-to-day operations. From Passion to Brand

The showcase demonstrated that successful brands are built through authenticity, resilience and a willingness to embrace new opportunities.

The conversations throughout the day reflected a shared commitment to supporting local businesses, encouraging innovation and working together to grow tourism and the regional economy.
