16 Mile Beach Hike
The 16 Mile Beach Challenge is an exhilarating and scenic coastal hiking challenge, guided and well planned according to the best tides to make your attempt a successful one! Enjoy the longest uninterrupted stretch of beach in South Africa stretching over 26km, with friends, family or alone, while you have the peace of mind that your guide will make sure he/she stays with you, that the NSRI is on standby, and that your transfer will be awaiting your arrival on the other side with a few welcome surprises in hand. Come and challenge yourself, and become one of only a handful of hikers that has ever completed this challenge!
Day 1 – Saturday, 14 December 2024
– 18:00: Meet & Greet at ‘The Beach House’, Yzerfontein
Enjoy bar snacks and meet your guides for the hike ahead. Learn about the route, weather conditions, and contingency plans.

Day 2 – Sunday, 15 December 2024
– 05:00: Meet at Yzerfontein Main Beach
Pre-dawn start for a breathtaking 16-mile hike. Full moon and spring tide will make this a unique experience.
– 09:03: Low Tide – Start your adventure 4 hours before low tide to ensure smooth walking conditions.
– 12:00: Bus pick-up at Tsaarsbank, West Coast National Park
– 13:00: Picnic at Kraalbaai – Relax with a picnic under an umbrella. Remember your swimsuit and towel!
– 14:00/15:00: Return to Yzerfontein Main Beach
Cost:
R1200 per person (Includes transport, meals, guide fees, park entry, and certificate of completion)
Min. 8 participants, max. 20.
